The Real Raydis

•October 9, 2009 • Comments Off

Because I’ve had to put Raydis, the Death Knight, on hold, I’ve missed something that I was starting to enjoy: Blogging. Yeah, I miss playing Ray, but it was a lot of fun writing up stuff. And so I’ve created a little space just for me out there in the bloggerverse. It’s nothing really fancy, and it’s something to keep me occupied for the time being. Come have a visit at A Day in the Life and say hello.

One of these days I’m going to get a regular job that has me working on a set schedule so I can go back to, you know, playing my Death Knight like I want to.

Faction Transfers aka Turning Ray to the “Dark Side”

•September 2, 2009 • 2 Comments

So Raydis is going to be a horde. I loved playing with Eventide, but alas, most of my WoW family is horde and resides on Eredar. That and I miss my Ray-bear. So, when I can come up with $55 ($30 Faction Transfer and $15 Realm Transfer…ouch) I shall make Ray a COW. I big fat COW. BWAHAHAHA!

Clearing a little dust

•July 22, 2009 • Comments Off

Wow….It’s dusty around here.

As many have noticed, Ray’s still on hiatus. That has become semi-permanent. While I love my death knight, I missed my home in the horde and returned to Eredar. For now, Raydis sits graciously with the tag Eventide, but no longer raids with them. Hell, I haven’t logged on to him in months. But, he won’t sit there forever. Blizzard has announced that they have in the works a Faction Transfer.

Buuuuuut…..until that time comes, Ray is going to remain an Alliance Death Knight. What would be awesome is if he could remain human, but convert to the horde. That and I want to keep all his horses. That would be awesome.

Now then, the rest of the news: Because Ray is on perma-hiatus, this blog goes with him. I’m not going to delete it. Not by a long shot. But I’m not going to sit here and try to think up posts for a character that’s just sitting around waiting for me to play him. (I can hear Raydis grumbling in the back of my mind right now. It’s hilarious.) I may get around to making the rest of my “helpful guide” posts. I may not. Right now, my focus has turned back to my cows: Raien (whose name I’m going to fix when I get $10) the Hunter, and Silverleaf the Druid. Once faction changes go live, you can bet your ass I’m pulling Ray to the dark side. >:)

Until then, I’ll leave this up since it does have a few good posts to help people out.

….I think I’ll make Ray a cow when I pull him over. Yes…..a big, fluffy, cow.

Blogger Shout-out

•April 14, 2009 • Comments Off

Since I can’t log on to play (/cry), I’m gonna do some plugging to other blogs that have recently caught my attention one way or another!

First off, big welcome to Kel from Awakening in Progress. There needs to be more girl gamers out there.

And!

Cadistra from World of Warcraft, Eh? is both a blog and a webcomic rolled into one! And even better: She’s a MooCow! Yay for MooCows!

Kay, done for now. I need to find something to do while I wait for the servers to come up…

PATCH DAY PATCH DAY PATCH DAY!

•April 14, 2009 • Comments Off

Hey, just because I put Ray on hiatus doesn’t mean I’ve given up on playing. I’m guilty of alt creation and I did just that: Went back to Eredar and made yet another Death Knight. This time a cow named Cailenn. Now, with the patch being here, I’m not so sure she’ll keep getting played. But we’ll see.

Complete 3.1 Patch Notes can be found here!

I’m just going to go over a few notes and what I think about them for now since I can’t play the game while patching.

All Ground Mounts may now swim without dismounting the rider. Flying Mounts still may NOT, and will dismount the rider upon entering water.

Not much of a problem for my Death Knights, but incredibly annoying with my other characters. I LOVE this change since I can mistime a jump across the river and not get dumped off my cat/wolf. Yee!

Yeah, okay, the whole bloody Death Knight section is full of things that make me go YEE and then go WTF?! Like Rune of the Fallen Crusader. GG taking away the heal ability it had. Still nice to have for the strength buff, but I guess the heal is compensated elsewhere. Still blargh. Blood Tanking got a little more of a boost, so hopefully we’ll see some more Blood Tanks out there. I may give it a try on my cow since Ray doesn’t have the gear to even try tanking. He’s pure DPS baby. Pure DPS.

The return of Shadow to Black Ice is a nice change. It was a bit of an upset when they took it out of the talent, although I can see why they did back then. DKs where a wee bit OP back then. We’ve balanced out a bit since then :).

The irritating Shadow of Death has been removed as a prereq for Master of Ghouls. Thank God. It was great when it didn’t have an internal cooldown, but once in, it was just plain stupid to have as a prereq. Useless, actually. May that talent rot in hell.

I’m not too sure about the swap of Unholy Blight and Gargoyle. I mean, it’s great that I can get my RP dump sooner in the tree, but the Gargoyle is kinda….meh. I use it in situations where I need an emergency long term dps boost and a quick RP dump, but I can easily get the burst I need from an emergency dump with death coil. Oh well, can’t win them all.

Now as far as Hunter talents go, well this isn’t a Hunter blog but dammit I’m all giddy about the pet changes! I’ll have to get my Hunters to 80 though to see if Beast Mastery is still my lovable talent tree. But for now, I must go to a 2-hour long meeting and WoW must wait.

Oh yeah, and there’s that Ulduar thing…

Hiatus sucks

•March 24, 2009 • Comments Off

So, due to my craptastical work schedule, I’ve been forced to put Ray on hold for raiding. With Ulduar coming up, this is a bad time to go on hiatus. But there was nothing I could do about it since I do work three different shifts in the same week. Go, go, McDonald’s Swing Managers! Or at least me. -_-

In other news, I did get a new dog who came to me with some horrible habits and a strange fear of stairs. Fortunately, the stairs thing was temporary and due to her previous owner not making her go up stairs if she didn’t want to.

…..So much for my black proto-drake. /cry

Thinking about other hostings

•March 7, 2009 • 2 Comments

As much as I enjoy the simplicity of WordPress.com, I’m limited by what I can get for free. Especially when it comes to themes and custom widgets. So my question is: What are the pros and cons of going to a hosted weblog as opposed to staying on WordPress.com. I mean, other than cost, of course.

And again…6th of 6

This time by Grimtorn. You naughty cow, you!

Post the sixth screenshot in your sixth folder….Okay, I don’t have my screen shots separated into folders. Should I be? Bah, I don’t know.

1, that is my horrid UI in infant stages. 2, That’s not Ray! That’s Jenuya, my Shaman….that…got…abandoned. Heh. The race to get a 4th 70 at the time just couldn’t hold my attention long enough when the Closed Beta loomed in front of me.

Now then….let’s see. I shall be nice and tag only a select few instead of everyone who reads this. Hmm. I pick, Euripedes from Critical QQ, Anna from Too Many Annas, Deekow, and for kicks and giggles, BRK from Big Red Kitty because I know he just LOVES us Death Knigg….er Death Knights. <3

I got tagged

•March 7, 2009 • 2 Comments

Sort of. By reading the meme I got tagged so here goes!

Anea tagged anyone who read her post,, who was tagged by Pixelated Executioner, who was tagged by Miss Elf, who was tagged by Eresin, who was tagged by Davlin, who was tagged by Harii who started this whole blasted thing.

Good lord, I think we just need to lump all these tags into one post itself! Anywho, here we go!

These are done in character. By both Ray and Syd.

Heroic: Glory of the Raider movie

•March 4, 2009 • 1 Comment

Ciderhelm, the guild master of Eventide and creator of TankSpot, created this beautifully stunning video of their push for the achievement Heroic: Glory of the Raider. Mere words cannot state how wonderful this is and how disappointed I am that I wasn’t a part of this run :(.

Masterfully done, Cider. Also, shame on WoW Insider for one not only calling this a “kill shot movie” but not giving credit where credit was due before the community said anything about it. This is NOT a kill shot movie by ANY means.
